These programs are available at no charge to groups of adults or students within our 14-county area. A hands-on activity for middle school students or after-school programs, in which participants dissect and categorize typical bags of clean garbage.

"Waste Race"
A relay race in which teams sort bags of trash into bins for reuse, recycling, composting, landfills, or household hazardous waste collection.

A laptop presentation and discussion for adult audiences.

"No Time To Waste Oklahoma"
An 18-minute VHS video program which presents a comprehensive overview of solid waste management in Oklahoma, highlighting problems and potential solutions.

"You Dump It, You Drink It"
A self-explanatory table display available to be set up at fairs or in other public places.
"Destroy The Trash Dragon"

A hands-on activity for lower elementary students in which they remove litter from a large dragon's nest and then reuse, recycle, compost, or dispose of in the correct bin.
Other customized programs are designed for particular audiences, on request.

Grants
Environmental Education Grants Available

ODEQ Environmental Education "License Tag" Grants. Seven $1000 grants are given for Outdoor Classrooms and fifteen $500 grants for special EE projects. Recipients may be K-12 Oklahoma teachers, youth group leaders, youth organizations, or home school associations. Also five $200 grants are given to high school teachers for field trips to landfills, recycling operations, water treatment plants, etc. Deadline is November 30th. Contact is Susie Shields, DEQ, at 405-702-5100.
